CHUCK NORFOLK MAKING MOVIE MAGIC AGAIN
Chuck Norfolk, the director of the wonderfully laugh out loud riot Haunted Trailer (also helped write Conjoined), is making a new film and needs your help. He started an Indiegogo page for his newest film called Getting Schooled. It's a film about a serial killer in a wheel chair. I have read the script already, and thought it was an excellent ride. This is definitely a project I would recommend everyone to help out on, because it's going to be a hit.
Help make Getting Schooled even better with your contribution and join the family by clicking HERE!
When asked Chuck Norfolk if he has any words of wisdom for aspiring filmmakers he had this to say, "Just stick those balls out and go for it." That's what he's doing right now, going for it!

PICK-AXE MURDERS PART III: THE FINAL CHAPTER
What is the Pick-Axe murders part III? It's a new horror film by Jeremy Sumrall that's being made in Texas. We at nerdremix.com love the indie world, and we know you do to. This film has a Kickstarter that has six days left, and I believe the intro video speaks for itself. It's a fun throwback to old horror films, and reminds me of the long awaiting Friday the 13th sequel us fans have all been waiting for. The kickstarter has made it's goal already, but we want to see it exceed its goal! Click HERE to help fund what looks to be a fun as hell, balls to the wall gore fest film!

TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND
Who else here is excited about Texas Frightmare Weekend?! I'll probably only be able to go up for a Saturday, but still would be an awesome experience to see this place again. Last time I went was a few years ago, and it had Pinhead, Bill Mosely, Dannielle Harris, Elvira, and others (it had a handful of actors from the "I Spit on your Grave" remake that I never saw as well).
This years line up looks pretty good. You get an Alien Reuinion without Ripley. Of course The Walking Dead cast, they go everywhere. Gary Busey will be there, and Jake. Hopefully Gary will do something crazy, but I have a feeling that's just his persona now. Stuart Gordon, one of my favorite directors will also be there. Yeah, the line up looks pretty badass this year.
The days are May 3, 4 and 5th. If you live around the Texas, let's party! Also I heard that they're playing Chuck Norfolk's film The Haunted Trailer there! From what I hear the film is a luagh riot.

NEW TOMMY PISOL MOVIE?!?!
While sleeping I got a message from the man himself (Tommy Pistol) about a new film he's been doing which looks simply awesome. Remember, this is the guy who made The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol, which has the official NerdRemix.com Seal of Approval on it. So from now on, whatever this guy makes, I will follow. Without anymore hype, his next film is called Beyond Fucked.
Synopsis:
Bonnie Rotten stars in her first leading adult role as a bounty hunter and one of the last few survivors left in the zombie apocalypse.
After a pill was invented to cure the world's obesity dilemma turned everyone who's taken the drug into crazed, uncontrollable flesh eating psychos. Years passed and only a few men in the world are still clean and can generate pure semen.
Bonnie Rotten is hired by a mad scientist named Dr.Life to track and collect their semen at all costs. Will she reach her target in time to collect every drop of semen before it is swallowed? Or will she fall victim to the horde of zombies needing to eat the survivors around her? It's do or die and her corpse is on the menu.

SMALL RANT ON HORRORFEST - 8 FILMS TO DIE FOR & NEW REVIEW
I remember when they started "8 Films to Die For," I liked "The Gravedancers" despite the god awful ending. Mulberry Street from 2007 was good. I could usually only find one film out of eight a year which is actually good, granted I have not seen all of them, including The Hamiltons. Zombies of Mass Destruction was pretty cool for the 2010 line up, the other ones I saw fell flat..
now...
Where the hell is my seasons 5?!
~Dee-Man Johnson III
And speaking of small rants--I fucking hate it when I reach out to people for review copies of films and get no reply--at least fucking email me to shut me down!! Is it that difficult to do?!? The director of the "Grave Encounters" films did exactly that--but I loved the trailers, and they're both on Netflix streaming, so fuck it, I reviewed part 1 and 2 HERE.

NEW MOVIE REVIEW
Remember back in '06 when they started that "8 Films to Die For" bullshit? Well the films themselves were a crap shoot most of the time (emphasis on the "crap") but there were a few quality films, like "The Hamiltons", that managed to slip through the cracks. Lo and behold, the Butcher Brothers did a freaking sequel to that angsty, creepily sexy vampire flick. "The Thompsons" brings together most of the original cast--wax nostalgic with the review HERE.

I'm a huge fan of this guy, he always creates an atmospherically horror film, that settles and unnerving feeling deep in your core, full of character development, and straight up horrifying kills!
The sneak preview starts off with a good line of narration by Brinke Stevens. Already it's filled with a nice eerie feeling, with some great music setting up making it almost feel like the beginning of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but in it's own way.
The camera work in this film so far is spot on to create an image of loneliness, and going mad.
It's interesting to note how we see the evolution of these characters through the series, this one at the beginning provides a huge back story for Andrea leading up to Wayne. This is why I love this series, a lot of film these days never seem to care about the characters. That is never the case with Anthony Spadaccini.
There was no blood or gore in the beginning (until 15 minutes in and it was a very small amount), but in this story, it doesn't really need it. It plays almost like a documentary of a killers mind. The beginning is kind of funny, because they keep showing picture of Wayne and Andrea (the two killers) young, and talking about being in a huge relationship, yet they don't have any pictures together. Just a nitpick, but then if they had that, some one would of had to photoshop it, and it would probably look silly. I guess they set it up that way to show how distant they are in their emotions, and because simply, they never took any pictures together when they were young (unless if they knew each other, I have no clue). Okay random rant over.
The acting this is really good, especially during the tape recorder scene. The actors actually look like every day normal people, and they act like normal people (except for the killing). It's quite amazing to see how real the characters are, Anthony Spadaccini must be one hell of a director, with an amazing cast and crew.
"Let's see what's down stairs, oh look... bodies!" Hahaha. I can't wait to see the rest of this film.
David Sitbon has a part in this film also, and us at nerdremix.com are such huge fans of him. I love his character in this film, all he wants to do is inflict pain on others. He is a crazy psychopath, that will fuck your day up. He WILL fuck it up! I hope to see more of him in the Head Cases!
We later get to see Wayne's first kill in this, or at least see pictures of it. This film seems so real, so natural, so creepy. The series has never been known for it's gore, but it is known for the characters that just literally scare the hell out of me.
So yeah, the first twenty minutes are awesome! I say, bring on the rest!
Now you may say, hey Dee-Man Johnson III, there's nothing negative in this review. Well I couldn't see anything wrong with it. My only worry is I hope it doesn't continues in the documentary type style through out the whole film. I hope it has evolutionary point where it starts becoming an actual "this is happening now" film besides just looking all at the past. That is my only worry.

The Hospital Review?
First of all, it's 6:00 AM, and I may not be in the right state of mind to write a review. Now that I think about it, am I ever? I really don't want to even write this review, because then I ACTUALLY have to think back about an uncomfortable little movie called The Hospital. Allow me to recollect my memories....
The Hospital..... I have no clue what I can really say about this film. I don't know if I even should recommend it, or tell you to stay FAR away from this. If you are about to pop this in the DVD player, I have to WARN you. This film is way past fucked up, and I will explain how fucked up this film truly gets.
Before I start the review, a little warning for the wise. The is no way I can talk about this film without providing spoilers, so I this review will have a few. I wont give away any beginnings or who dies though it.
I was excited to see this film when I heard the name April Burril was attached to this film. I will watch just about anything she's in (yeah that didn't sound weird at all), I have a funny back story on our introduction which I probably wont be telling. With her name alone, the moment I got the film in the mail I put it in. I had no clue what this film was about, I never read synopsis's or watch trailers for films I'm going to review. I like going in fresh minded, and, I was watching this with a friend of mine, so maybe being more prepared would have been a better idea on this occasion.... ....Also the pizza was ready!
Man this film is fucked up. At the first few minutes it starts off as a typical B-movie, loaded with bad acting, and horrible looking cgi. So, at first me and my friend just shrugged at each other, we've seen bad movies before, nothing new here. Then The Hospital bus takes a turn for Crazy Town and enters a fucked up genere of torture and.... Well... I'm going to drop an offesnive word, if this word offends you then i'm sorry, but I did warn you and I'm just reviewing a film, so you can shut the fuck up. Anyway, it has lots of torture and "rape." In fact this film may have a tad bit too much rape for my taste.
After a few scenes of horrible CGI deaths, and INTENSE rape. It makes me wish the film had a cut of it which toned down the rape by, a lot, and left it mostly a b-horror film. The cheese in this movie is pure grade when it's not in fucked up mode. That's what this film keeps going. It goes from B-movie to FUCKED UP, back to B-movie and back to being FUCKED UP. I had to look away a few times, and I never look away from films.
The ghosts in this film are silly as hell. I almost forgot about the ghosts, now that it's about a week later after viewing this film. I still have the bad taste of rape in my mouth, and not the good kind either. Now thinking about the ghosts, they do really bad CGI later in the film, but I wont spoint anymore. I don't think there was one memorable kill in this film, but I sure can think of memorable moments. All I have to say is the Paint Brush, and I think people will know what I mean. This film is also almost just a soft-core porn, which I really can't get into. It does enough to shock me, but not enough to make me want to turn it off. Also any fans of April Burril, will not be disappointed by her parts.
This film never gets boring, a few really good ideas that are never properly fleshed out, loaded with silly cgi-kills, and enough nudity to fill the grand canyon. In good conscience I cannot recommend this film to anyone, but with that said I'll still have to give this film a -
7/10 - Great effort, but HOLY SHIT!
-
The director Mike O'Mahony of the film Sloppy the Psychotic was asked for a quote to inspire upcoming filmmakers and he had this to say -
"The two things I always say are... Just make the movie (or video, or web show, etc) don't wait for the money, star, equipment, etc. Just make it with what you've got. Second, I say for you're first movie make one that isn't you're best idea, because you will fuck up a lot. But fucking up is how you learn so you should do that, just don't do it on that awesome project that you wrote for 5 years... Know what I mean? Hope that helps."

LATEX AVENGER'S AUTHOR DAN PRICE & NEW HORROR HOTTIE
A man I like to bring up plenty of times is Dan Price. He's talked with us since the beginning of NerdRemix and back into the old beyondnerds site.
I was such a shy interviewer back then at ComicPalooza, I think it was 30 seconds in when I started talking about balls, it set the tone for total awkwardness. This is a way to NOT interview people, since then I have learned from my mistakes. But Dan Price is so cool he rolled with it anyway, I didn't even have a camcorder back then but an ordinary digital camera (which I'm going to still use today to record something with, but that's on the down low). As I said, he still rolled with it. He even created the NerdRemix Seal of Approval which was awarded to Rockin' Reverend.
One thing about Dan Price is that his humor in person doesn't disappoint in comic form. There's some good stuff to be had with the Latex Avenger.
The Latex Avenger is a fun comic, with side quickie's of material for the on the go type person. It has everything a fan of super hero comics could want, from super villians who deserve a taste of justice, to a side kick who learns the hardway about being replaced. This comics manages to have that light hearted feeling with vulgar humor piled on top with witty references seeping out of every panel.
Here's just a small taste of the future with the Latex Avenger -
Bonn Adame is the artist, he's been drawing with Dan for a year now. I can't wait to see what he brings to the Latex Avenger.
I asked Dan Price to share some words of wisdom for aspiring comic book writers, and he had this to say...
Dan Price -
"Read a lot. Watch shows that are out of your comfort zone and Denny the existence of writers block. Write all the time!
Deny... Not Denny.
And spell check apparently is key. :-)"
Dan Price is a man I respect, and him being teamed up with the artistic skills of Bonn Adame, I think they will continue creating some badass material in the near future! But don't worry Nerds and Nerdettes, we'll keep you informed with more news on the Latex Avenger as it happens.

WHAT IS JACOB, AND A KICKSTARTER!
"Lonely and disturbed Jacob Kell loved his little sister more than anything on earth. When tragedy strikes, Jacob retaliates the only way he knows how - and anyone who crosses his path will know there is no limit to his brutal vengeance. "
This is the storyline of Jacob lifted from IMDB, but there's more to it than just a good story. This film has almost all the "Texas Greats" as I like to call them. Who are the "Texas Greats?" The director Larry Wade Carrell (who also acts in this film), Kerry Beyer (director of Spirit Camp), Joe Grisaffi (director of Dead of Knight, Lars the Emo Kid and acted in The League of Science episode 4), my personal favorite Roxy Vandiver (very beautiful and talented lady), and many more. Not only does it have the "Texas Greats" in it, it also has some highly respected named actors (Michael Biehn, James Hampton) as well.
So why should you see this film besides the number of great and talented people who worked on this film, because it looks horrifically violent and expected to be full of a dark and gritty atmosphere. That's something that's missing in todays films, an atmosphere and characters we can actually care about and are interested in. This film simply looks amazing, and I cannot wait for it to come out on April 16th 2013.
The film is available for pre-order online at Amazon on blu-ray or DVD. But what I really want to see is this film on Netflix! If you have an account, save it to your queue, because this is a film you will not want to miss. I already have it saved in mine!
I asked Larry Wade Carrell (the director of Jacob) to share some words of wisdom for upcoming filmmakers, and he had this to say,
"You only live once so find what ever it is you are passionate about and go for it! The only way you will not achieve your goals is if you quit!"
From now on, I will never promote a Kickstarter campaign without donating to it myself. That's why on Friday I will have to put some money in for an upcoming film called Sorrow. It's going to be a revenge type of film, and I love revenge films. It's about a woman who is attacked be a killer and she escapes, and now she's out for his blood. I love the kickstarter video they have, the writer/director and producer look like they know their shit when it comes to making a serious horror film. To help them you can donate HERE, help them make some art! We fucking need better horror films out there.
A picture of the very beautiful and talented Millie Loredo (writer and director)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2013) Review?
This review is a conversation that Steve Mezo and I had. Before you start reading the review I'd recommend you read Steve Mezo's thoughts of TCM 3D first so you will have more context to our conversation. You can view his thoughts HERE!!
*Warning* Some spoilers will be in here, if you are okay with that, then read on!
Dee - i loved ur thoughts on tcm 3d, I really want to make a video about it. I walked into the movie without seeing a trailer of it or anything, so i had no clue what it was about.
i saw it yesterday and I already knew it was going to suck for the fact that I am a TCM fan and I know better. But then at the beginning when they started showing clips from the first movie and continued the story right after it left off I said to my self, "I TAKE IT BACK!" This is not going to suck, this film is AWESOME! Even though I don't remember three chubby guys from the original (one of the three being Gunnar Hansen).
Then when I thought this film was going to be awesome, it went into the actual movie (current day), and we were introduced to the characters. I was like; Oh man, I'm going to have to stand these one dimensional characters for an hour and thirty minutes... I can't wait until they die!
Also isn't it weird how they edited Leather Face into the old footage, you say you can tell the difference, and you totally can. I forgave it for this since it's not like they can get all the same people to play the same roles and what not. I felt like the beginning of the film was written by a fan, and the rest was written by a studio.
Steve - Oh yeah it was all over the place.
Dee - I went with a few good friends, and we made fun of it the whole way though. We saw it in the dollar theaters and we were the only ones there just about. Did you ever question why her dad didn't try harder to stop our main character from leaving when she got a letter in the mail saying her grandma died? I mean they stole her from the original parents and killed them, so to them no one should know anything. I would have been like, "look, they are CANNIBALS!!!! and HOW DID THEY FIND YOU!!!!"
Steve - Oh yeah lots of plot holes.
Dee - and why the dumb bitch will read her text, but not the latter of grave importance she was given when entering the property she inherited. I like how the guy's like, "oh you brought friends..." but failed to say, "Hey you got a crazy fuck living underneath the house, he'll kill your friends if you don't read this letter."
Only part I liked was the switcheroo where the authorities are the bad guys and apparently running through a carnival with a chainsaw running wont bring any more cops than the 3 working in the town. As a horror film, I knew this movie was going to suck, but as a TCM fan I had to see it anyway.
Steve -I was in the theater alone saying WTF more than once.
Dee - Same here, like when the survivors were trying to escape and they jumped in the van, and they were so close to get away, but they stopped the van so they could... I don't know, look at Leather Face? Anyway, my friend was like "why did he stop?!" at this moment. I said it's cuz if they kept going the movie would end and the credits would roll. Nobody had a rational mind and every ones actions and logic was dumb as shit. Like at the beginning "Okay, I'll take Jeb even though yall are all guilty of being murderers!"
Steve -Yeah the cops stand back and let the mayor do all that
Dee - And then the Luke I'm your father part, "he's my dad." okay... I guessed that, and I guessed the scar was going to save the main girl later. I did like the idea she was crazy like her whole family. It's weird how a smart college girl (or so we guess even though she was stupid through out the whole film) could go insane like that.
Also last but not least, I didn't like how she wouldn't show her tits. If you have a girl with her shirt open in the middle, and showing pretty much all of her boobs, just shoe some nipple. I know it's shallow, but it takes you out of the movie when some ones pretty much naked, but they still hide the nipple. It's like the scene from Austin Powers where you find any way to cover the nudity up. If you don't want to show nipple then don't have a scene like that.
Steve - HA HA HA HA!
One thing that I never discussed with Steve was the gore. I thought the gore in this film was great, there was lots of it, and it actually looked good.
Now we have my rating....
As a TCM fan 2/10
As a fan of HORRIBLE movies and want to riff the shit out of this 8/10 really easy to crack jokes at.
As a casual horror fan probably a 4/10

Black Mesa Source (Half-Life Remake) game comes out FOR FREE - tomorrow
Now when you hear that a remake is being made of your favorite game, your first reaction is to get suspicious (lord knows they remade Goldeneye enough times). The game is called Black Mesa Source, and it's getting a free release tomorrow on Steam. I have been looking up youtube videos on it, and to tell you the truth, the game looks like it would be worth every penny of free! I think this project is worth keeping your eyes on, especially if it's for free.
Valve fans (even though this game wont by by Valve, it's still a Valve remake) have a whole lot to enjoy as of lately. From the Left 4 Dead 2 dlc (which is free on the pc and paid for on console), to the amazing Counter-Strike GO and now this!
You can visit the official Black Mesa Source game webpage right by clicking right HERE!
You can further discuss this topic on our facebook page! ~Derek

COMIC BOOK MONTH & NEW HORROR HOTTIE OF THE MONTH
Words of Wisdom from the Unwise
A Small Press Writers Addiction
My name is Dan and I write funny books. I tried it out in 2007, but really got hooked in 2010. Im an addict. And like all addicts, I have made my mistakes. And now, here I am, ready to stand up, admit my mistakes for the betterment of comic-kind, and give some helpful pointers to the newbies along the way.
First, write what you know, but dont write what everyone else knows, i.e. dont do another rip off of the X-Men or some unoriginal shit. Dont make your first issue an introduction to your multi-verse and please expect people to buy another book about intergalactic civil war or zombies. They already have those.
Heres my tale of woe: When I was 16, I tried to create my own Youngblood (Insert snickers and snorts here), down to the asshole with the bow and arrow. I did several drawings of my characters and some very rushed pages and had my portfolio reviewed by Bob Layton (of Iron Man and Valiant Fame). The man in the suit took one look at my pages and characters and said politely, I like em. So does half the comics reading country. Come up with something new. I then tried to rip of the Dark Knight Returns, but thats another story.
If youre funny, write a comedy. If you are a brooding individual, might I suggest something of the Vertigo fare. But I refuse to believe that there are no original ideas left in the world, especially in comics. Your original idea is out there somewhere. Mine happened to be a hero who wears a rubber on his head and a turtle named LeBron. And if you pitch me a book about a zombie intergalactic civil war, Im in.
If you can draw a little and think you might be able to pull off doing a whole book on your own, my advice is to find a good team to work with. Seriously. Heres my story on this:
I am a so-so artist, able to do fluid sequential pages, but I am truly a cartoonist in style. I did 3 full issues, a few shorts and a handful of strips before I realized that people were laughing at the story but passing on purchase because the art wasnt up to snuff. I would say that was hard to hear, but I am a proactive guy and decided to find an artist to work with. The best writing of my short and un-illustrious comic career is happening right now because I have time to really hunker down with a script and edit it till it bleeds while the talent takes the story for an artistic spin.
I hate to admit it, but if you go into this with rose colored glasses that writing comics is an easy gig, your first issue is going to suck. Take it from me:
I decided to take the old school Mighty Marvel Bullpen approach and plot out the story, draw it, and then fill in the bubbles. Now, this approach worked for Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but let me tell you, I am no Stan Lee or Jack Kirby. And the process flopped from a writing point of view. The characters were flat and the dialogue was jerky at best. No. A strong script with a tight story is the only way to go. And revise. Revise. Revise. The next issues were much better and now the process and workflow is so much faster, it makes for a happier writer.
I hope this helps you with your own comic addiction. Maybe youll head my words and go off it, cold turkey. But if you are anything like me, and since youve read this far, Id have to say you are, Ill be setting up my table next to you at a con to be named later.
So until next time, stay loose.
